Aren’t these the most adorable shots of the Jorge family?
One thing I am sure of after this photo session is how important the photographer is. Not only do they need to be good at their skill, but also patient and especially great with kids.
The day we took these photos my anxiety level was through the roof. Why? Well Julian is a very, very, oh did I mention very, active little boy. He doesn’t stay still. And throughout the entire session he was more interested in other things than having his photo taken. I was very hesitant that a good photo was captured, but I was proven wrong when Ivanna from Ready Freddie Studios sent me these. She was great with Julian! Her patience and techniques to capturing these cute moments surpassed my expectations.

Una cosa de la que estoy segura después de esta sesión de fotos es lo importante que es el fotógrafo. No solo necesita ser bueno en su arte, sino también pacientes y especialmente excelentes con los niños.
El día que tomamos estas fotos mi nivel de ansiedad estaba por las nubes. ¿Por qué? Bueno, Julián es un niño muy, muy, muy activo. No se queda quieto. Y durante toda la sesión estuvo más interesado en otras cosas que en las fotos. Dudé mucho en que una buena foto podría resultar de esa sesión, pero Ivanna de Ready Freddie Studios me demostró que estaba equivocada cuando me envió estas bellas fotografías. ¡Ella fue genial con Julián! Su paciencia y técnicas para capturar estos lindos momentos superaron mis expectativas.

Ivanna was actually our photographer for Julian’s newborn photo session (see those photos here), and when she agreed to take Mila’s photos I was delighted.
By the way, another thing that I appreciate about Ivanna… she takes care of the wardrobe for you (read another thing I don’t have to stress about). She has a wide array of beautiful pieces for the entire family. She can also arrange for a hairstylist and makeup artist to work their magic on you the day of (cue the confetti).

How to choose the right photographer for family photos (besides the obvious like: checking out their portfolio)
- Ask family members, friends and co-workers for recommendations. Ask them what they liked and didn’t like about that photographer and/or session.
- Meet the photographer in person (and include the kids). This will give you an idea of how well the photographer interacts with everyone.
- Read comments and reviews on their social media (don’t forget TheKnot.com and TheBump.com).
- Do notice the time it takes your photographer to reply to your email, phone call or text message. This will give you an idea of how busy and/or responsive they are. A 24-hour response time is acceptable in my book.
- Do notice how active they are on social media and their website. This will show you how current their work is.

Cómo elegir el fotógrafo adecuado para las fotos familiares (además de lo obvio como: revisar su portafolio)
- Pidan recomendaciones a sus familiares, amigos y compañeros de trabajo. Pregúnte qué les gustó y qué no les gustó de ese fotógrafo y/o sesión de fotos.
