One of the reasons why Puerto Rico is such a coveted tropical destination, besides the beauty of Old San Juan, is its bright blue beaches, beautiful hotels and delicious Caribbean cuisine (Mofongo-fan over here!). So, when I found out we were staying at Caribe Hilton, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Not only is it located in a private peninsula with excellent ocean views, historic fort, private beach, 10-minute drive to Old San Juan [breather break ?], contemporary rooms, modern and may I say huge fitness center, but, this Hilton is where the delicious Piña Colada was born.
For our third day in the island we decided to relax and enjoy the warm sun. After breakfast, we headed to the pool and of course ordered their signature cocktail. The weather was perfect; warm but with a cool and quite strong breeze (hence why I had to hold my floppy hat from flying away in these photos). The hotel has several pools, hammock area and a swim-up bar (yummy and convenient!). The hotel also has a few dining options that include a steakhouse, Italian and Asian-fusion cuisine among others (they even have a Starbucks).
Now, let’s talk about swimwear. I had purchased this one-piece a while back, but hadn’t found the right setting to wear it. Until planning for Puerto Rico came in the picture. Let me say that it was hard finding a one-piece that was flattering to my body type, but I persisted and found a few. This one from my vacation to Riviera Maya is one of my faves. So ladies, don’t get discouraged when a trend doesn’t look right on your initial try. Consider other options within the trend and I am sure you will find something that’s both flattering and trend-worthy.

[/one_half][one_half_last]Una de las razones por las que Puerto Rico es un destino tropical tan codiciado, además de la belleza del Viejo San Juan, son sus azules playas, sus hermosos hoteles y su deliciosa cocina caribeña. Así que, cuando supe que íbamos a alojarnos en el Caribe Hilton, no podía contener mi emoción. No sólo porque está situado en una península privada con excelentes vistas al mar, fortaleza histórica, playa privada, a 10 minutos en coche del Viejo San Juan, habitaciones contemporáneas, gimnasio moderno, magníficos jardines tropicales con aves exóticas, pero, aquí es donde nació la deliciosa Piña Colada.
Para nuestro tercer día en la isla, decidimos relajarnos y disfrutar del cálido sol. Después del desayuno, nos dirigimos a la piscina y por supuesto tomamos su famoso cóctel. El clima estuvo perfecto; cálido pero con una brisa fresca y bastante fuerte (la razón por la qué tuve que aguantar mi sombrero durante estas fotos). El hotel tiene varias piscinas, una zona de hamacas y un bar adentro de la piscina (súper conveniente!). También tiene varias opciones para comer que incluyen una churrasquería, cocina italiana y asiática entre otros (incluso tienen un Starbucks).
Ahora, hablemos de la moda de trajes de baño. Había adquirido este traje de baño hace ya un tiempo, pero no había encontrado el ambiente adecuado para usarlo, hasta que empezamos a planear el viaje a Puerto Rico. Les cuento que fue difícil encontrar un traje de baño de una pieza que fuera halagador para mi tipo de cuerpo, pero persistí y encontré unos cuantos. Éste de mis vacaciones a Riviera Maya es uno de mis favoritos. Así que chicas, no se desanimen cuando una tendencia no se ve bien cuando lo intenten por primera vez. Traten otras opciones dentro de la tendencia, y estoy segura de que encontrarán algo que luzca bien y que este a la moda.
