If you have been peeking at my InstaStories you must know that today we are celebrating our 9-year wedding anniversary. Yep we got married, unintentionally, on El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). We are actually not fans of anything dreary or Halloween-like. We don’t even watch scary movies. In fact, El Día de los Muertos is not a holiday of sadness, on the contrary, those who celebrate it are happy because they are remembering their loved ones. That’s because we don’t mind sharing our most meaningful date yet with the festivities that commemorate and honor the memory of those who are no longer with us. Thus it was only appropriate to spend it in a country where this celebration originated, Mexico. And here is a little secret, we might, or might not, dress up in Sugar Skull (Catrina y Catrin) outfits, so stay tune to my Instagram 🙂
Now, let’s talk about fashion and this fall color-blocking outfit. These culottes are actually from last year and despite their bright mustard color, I have gotten quite the use out of them. Take a look here, here and here to see how I’ve accomplished that. My rule of thumb for color blocking is this, try pairing complementary and analogous colors (this means hues that are adjacent or across from each other) in the color wheel. I’ve recently paired the same emerald green shade with a burnt orange here.

¡Feliz noviembre amares!
Si han estado mirando en mis Stories de Instagram, deben saber que hoy estamos celebrando nuestro noveno aniversario de bodas. Sí, nos casamos, inconscientemente, en El Día de los Muertos. De hecho, no somos fanáticos de nada mórbido o relacionado a Halloween (día de las brujas). Ni siquiera miramos películas de miedo. La verdad es que esta fecha no es día de tristeza, a lo contrario, los que la celebran están contentos por que están recordando a sus seres queridos. Por eso, no nos molesta compartir la fecha más significativa hasta hoy con las festividades que conmemoran y honran la memoria de aquellos que ya no están con nosotros. Por lo tanto, solo era apropiado disfrutarlo en un país donde se originó esta festividad, México. Es posible que nos disfracemos de Catrina y Catrin, así que estén atentos a mi Instagram 🙂
Ahora, hablemos de este look digno de otoño. Estos pantalones anchos son del año pasado y, a pesar de su llamativo color mostaza, les he sacado bastante provecho. Echen un vistazo aquí, aquí y aquí para ver cómo lo he logrado. Mi regla principal para combinar color llamativos es simple, intente emparejar colores complementarios y análogos (esto significa tonos que son vecinos o en frente de uno al otro) en la rueda de colores. Recientemente he combinado el mismo tono esmeralda con naranja aquí.
